Hiraeth is a physical, for-profit Honkai: Star Rail zine featuring the romantic relationship between Jing Yuan and Dan Heng/Dan Feng/Imbibitor Lunae. There will be an SFW physical zine and an NSFW digital PDF.According to our interest check, the majority of respondents have no preference for dynamics, and would like to see both JingHeng and HengJing content in the NSFW zine.

General Guidelines
☯ All contributors must be > 18 years old as of 03 Dec 2023.
☯ Your portfolio should include 3-10 samples of your best work in the style you plan to do for the zine.
☯ A sample containing either Jing Yuan or Dan Heng is highly recommended.
☯ All content in apps must be appropriately tagged (e.g. NSFW, gore, horror, character death, torture, suicide, trigger warnings, etc.). These tags may be in the form of AO3 tags, listed at the top of your fic, in the file name, etc., as long as it is visible. Apps containing untagged trigger-warning content will be disqualified.
☯ Please ensure all links e.g. Google Drive are accessible. We recommend you check all links in incognito mode before submission. Please do not submit links that only allows logged-in users of a certain platform to view.
☯ Applicants are judged solely on the quality of their portfolio. Personal ship preferences, follower count, and factors unrelated to an applicant's ability to produce quality work in a timely manner will not be taken into account, except the following:
☯ Please note that we are unable to accept content creators with a history of plagiarism, art tracing, design/concept theft (including graphics), sale of work not belonging to you (e.g. personal commissions or other zines without permission), refusal to adhere to zine policy (e.g. by posting/selling own zine work before shipping is complete), harassment, or AI-generated content.

Artist Guidelines
Expected Product: 1 piece of art or 1 two-page comic.
☯ All works must be independently created. Collaborations with other artists are not allowed.
☯ Portfolio of 3-10 complete, fully-rendered illustrations. Comics may be black/white.
☯ At least one (1) sample should contain a full background (i.e. no solid color/simple gradient).
☯ At least one (1) sample should feature two men. This can be platonic.
☯ If applying for the NSFW side zine, at least one (1) sample should be NSFW.
☯ The requirements may be in the same artwork or different artworks.
☯ Portfolio will be judged on anatomy, composition, and how well the art tells a story. Dynamic poses, full body drawings, and full backgrounds are preferred. Art style is not a factor. Both traditional and digital art are accepted.
☯ Applying with any work created with the use of AI is not permitted and is grounds for immediate disqualification.
☯ For cosplay applicants: Portfolios will be judged on lighting, poses, outfits, and photography. At least 2 pitches are required, and please indicate if you already have the outfits/equipment prepared or a backup plan in case your costumes cannot arrive in time.

Writer Guidelines
Expected Product: 1 fic of 2-2.5k words (SFW) or 3k-4k words (NSFW).
☯ Portfolio of 3-6 fics.
☯ All fics should be around 1.5k-3k words (soft limit).
☯ Three (3) of your best samples with a total word count < 12k (hard limit).
☯ Portfolio has a hard limit of < 20k words. We will not read more than 6 fics/20k words total.
☯ At least one (1) sample must be complete.
☯ At least one (1) sample should preferably feature either Jing Yuan or Dan Heng/Dan Feng/Imbibitor Lunae or both.
☯ At least one (1) sample must feature a substantial amount of interaction between two male characters. This can be platonic.
☯ At least one (1) sample must be in PoV third person and have proper grammar (e.g. not entirely in lowercase letters).
☯ If applying for the NSFW side zine, at least one (1) fic in your portfolio must be NSFW. If applying for the SFW zine, at least one (1) fic in your portfolio must be SFW.
☯ These requirements can be in the same fic or different fics.
☯ Your 3 samples are to be submitted as individual Google Docs/AO3/FFN links.
☯ Wattpad, Twitter threadfics, Tumblr post fics, Instagram post fics, etc. will not be considered.
☯ We recommend a Google Drive link for your portfolio. If submitting AO3 profiles, we will randomly choose which fics to read.
☯ Fics will be judged on SPaG, characterization, pacing, and the ability to tell a story within a restricted word count. Writing style is not a factor. An occasional SPaG mistake will not count against you.
☯ Applying with any work created with the use of AI is not permitted and is grounds for immediate disqualification.

Yes, all accepted contributors will first submit a pitch, and then they must create a new fanwork after the pitch is approved.Can I sell/post my piece after the zine is over?
All contributors retain all rights to their respective fanworks. Contributors may only share, post, sell, etc. their fanwork AFTER shipping is complete. Posting, streaming, or otherwise sharing your fanwork before the zine is complete will cause your submission to be removed.How will contributors be compensated?
Compensation will occur in stages:
1. All mods & contributors are guaranteed the full digital bundle + all items at production cost, capped at 3 of each item. Merch artists may arrange for bulk production of their own merch.
2. Any profits made from sales will first go towards covering the zine book + shipping for all mods & contributors.
3. Additional profits will then go towards covering a full bundle, inclusive of merch, for all mods & contributors.
4. Any excess profits after full bundle compensation will be split as follows:

Additional Promo Material refers to fanworks made for promotional purposes or graphics. This 3% pool will be split evenly by all contributors who contribute promo work on top of their zine work, capped at 1% per contributor.
